The annual Christmas Cracker competition took place on December 27th. The event was again very well attended and players enjoyed some mulled wine and mince pies after their tennis. A number of photos are available on Facebook at this link.
On Sunday 16th of December, over 70 of our junior members welcome Santa. Obviously, a very big thanks should go to Santa for popping into us and thanks also to all the to all our helpers who helped us to get ready for the special visit. Congratulation to all our prize winners in the Home Instead Supersenior finals today. In particular, overall winners Billy Barrett and Geraldine Buckley and Runners up Joe Devitt and Marie Duffy. An amazing weekend with over 40 players plus 4 professionals competing for honours in the Neilly Sull Open 2019. This has become one of the dates in the squash calendar that everyone looks forward to. Not only to watch the likes of Joel Makin, the world no.12 showcase his effortless skills but to remember our friend and former club member Neil O Sullivan. Thanks to everyone who supported, played, watched and to Sundays Well for everything they did to make the event run so smoothly. Looking forward to next year…

The finals of the American Tournament took place on Saturday 16th November. Congratulations to the overall winner Cathy Walsh and winners on the evening Catherine O’Riordan and Brian Twomey, a huge thank you must also go to Maria Crowley and her committee for organising the tournament during the year. The Induchem Club Championships took place between September 22nd – 27th and had a record entry of over 150 entries. This year the format changed significantly and the presentation was done in tandem with the dinner on the Friday night. A massive thank you to our sponsors Induchem and also to Emma Crowley & Claire Fennell, tournament directors and all the committees which helped with the organisation to the event. A massive well done must go to Ron O’Mahony, Shane McCarthy, Grace Reidy and Sandra Higgins who are competed in the Grade 2 Summer Cup finals in Rushbrooke. The team were facing off against Rushbrooke and after 4 matches it was 2-2 all. The Mens Doubles was the decider and Ron and Shane came back from 5-2 in the third to win the tournament. Well done to all !
On September 6th and 7th, Sunday’s Well was delighted to host the Junior Veteran’s Interprovincial Event. The level of tennis throughout the weekend was outstanding and Sunday’s Well was well represented on all teams. Leinster won the title overall but Munster did have wins in the Ladies 35+ 40+ and Men’s 45+events, in particular well done to Abby Hayes, Mary Claire McCarthy, Deirdre Swinburne who were all part of these winning teams.
Great night at the August squash social. on August 30th. There was a fantastic turnout and a huge thanks to Eoin O Toole for all his hard work organising it.
On August 31st, Sundays Well welcomed the Irish Evergreens for a great weekend of tennis and social activities. 12 members of the Evergreens arrived came down on Friday and were welcomed by the Social Committee. This was followed on Saturday morning with some great tennis in beautiful sunshine. Thanks must go to Martin Leahy and the Social Committee for their organisation.
The finals of the Davy Munster Junior open championships were concluded in superb conditions at the Sundays Well Boating and Tennis Club, Cork on Saturday 6th July. Over 7 days over 310 boys and girls in age groups from as young as under 8 right through to under 18 competed in this Category 1 Irish Junior Tennis tournament and many of the country’s top juniors from all four provinces and further afar battled in blistering sunshine for the main titles.
