June 03

Yesterday, Tennis Ireland released its latest guidelines in preparation for Phase 2 which starts on June 8th. The latest set of communications that we have received will allow us to make some small, but significant changes to our play.

1. We welcome back members who live up to 20km from the club.
2. Juniors aged 16 years and over may now play in the club without adult supervision.  Juniors under 16 years of age must have an adult/guardian in the club with them when they are playing.
Unfortunately, the Expert Group have told Tennis Ireland that types of play remain as per Phase 1, namely singles only, the exception being doubles partners from the same household.
As we move through phase 1, we are heavily reliant on volunteers to man the club during all the hours that it is open.  We ask those members who are willing and able to offer some assistance to please sign up at this link.  This will allow us to build up a cohort of volunteers to help support the club.  It is a relatively simple task, but as many volunteers as possible will help fill the rota slots and ease the burden on the small number of volunteers we have at the moment.  Please remember, we are all delighted to be back playing, but without the club is supported by volunteers, it will be difficult.
Finally, with regard to competitions being run within our club.  Tennis Ireland has muted a return to competition from July 20th, the dates being offered for our senior open and junior open are in July and August respectively.  Sundays well COVID – 19 committee, General Committee and Coaches have carried out a detailed risk assessment and have decided that we will not be running our Senior Open or our Junior Open this year.  The Health and Safety of our members and all club players is paramount and on this basis, we feel these competitions are not feasible or practical to run.

May 17th

A member’s webinar was held this evening and the full recording is available at this link. In addition to this, below is a short video created to give a summary of the restrictions in place.

May 10th

The club has developed a set of guidelines that outline the restrictions that will be in place in the Club once it re-opens on the 18th May. These guidelines are based on the recommendations made by Tennis Ireland. The documents are available at the links below.

May 5th

Tennis Clubs are expected to re-open on May 18th. Once re-opened the club will have a number of restrictions in place. Restrictions will be communicated to members in due course and will also be available on this website.

April 10th 2020

In line with the Government’s latest announcement, the club will now remain closed until the 5th May.

March 23rd 2020

Unfortunately, we will now be closing all club facilities effective from 8 pm this evening. The club will remain closed for the next 2 weeks after which time it will be reviewed. All court bookings that have been made during this period will be refunded.

We feel that this is a necessary measure to take at this stage during this difficult time and the increasing pressure to help ensure the safety of our membership and the public.

March 15th 2020
As a club, we need to continue to do what is right and take further action to limit the opportunity to pass on the virus to those who may be more susceptible.
With effect from March 16th, we will be closing the bar, River Room, Cork and County Room, gym and changing rooms.
The rest of the club will operate to reduced hours, opening at 9:30 am and closing at 8 pm on weekdays and at 6 pm on weekends/bank holidays so that those who choose to attend the club and access courts, etc. may access bathrooms in the clubhouse.
We will continue to update you as matters progress. Please stay safe.

March 14th 2020
Please be advised of revised clubhouse closing times for this coming weekend.  This includes the main Clubhouse, Squash Courts, Gym and locker room facilities.
  • Saturday 14th 8:00 pm
  • Sunday 15th 6:00 pm

March 12th 2020
The committee has been closely monitoring events related to Covid-19 and today took the decision to cancel/postpone all group events until 30th March so that includes Junior Squads, Junior Close, Internal Winter League, All gym classes, Music Group Meetings, Social Tennis and the upcoming Munster Vets Open.

The club will remain open to members, but we would ask that you continue to observe HSE guidelines, especially that of hand hygiene and social distancing. The club will continue to monitor the situation and will keep you updated through email, this webpage and social media.
