As we enter a busy summer season for our club, please find below a summary of recent and forthcoming events:
Winter League Phase II
Sunday’s Well hosted a very exciting and enjoyable finale for Phase II of the Winter League on Sunday May 15th. We can be particularly proud to have three of our own teams participate in the finals – Marc’s Grade 5 team lost out in a very close super doubles; Emily’s Grade 3 team won in super doubles and Tara’s Grade 2 team came from 2-0 down and won in super doubles.
Well done to all the teams and Ger for your tremendous effort and hard work throughout the Winter League!
Social Tennis
Our last Social Tennis event for the season took place on Friday, the 3rd June 2022.
As in the past, Social Tennis will stop for the summer due to the Senior Open, Junior Open and other events taking place. However, the club would encourage anyone who is interested in organising social tennis themselves to do so on the Fridays that are free. Subject to availability, the club is happy to book the courts for you and others and even organise the pizza, etc. If there is an interest in this, please contact me.
Munster Senior Open | 9th June – 18th June
The Munster Senior Open will take place at our club from 9th -18th June. The event is one of the highlights of the year, and we are delighted to have 411 entries in 29 events. Best of luck to everyone who is taking part!
Please be aware that on Saturday, 11th June (from 10am to 1pm), the club will host a coffee morning in aid of Arc Cancer Support House and your support would be greatly appreciated. There is no need to register, simply come along on the morning and enjoy some cakes and watch the tennis in aid of a great cause. Donations can also be made at this link.
Our social committee will host a Cheese & Wine event on the evening of Saturday 11th, June from 7:30pm. Where possible please register in advance at this link so that the social committee can get an idea of numbers. The cost is €10 and will include two glasses of wine and cheese.
The traditional BBQ will take place on Friday 17th June from 7:30pm – 9:30pm. Tickets can be bought and paid for online at this link and will also be available through the tournament office. The cost is €20.
Please note that the traffic and parking are likely to be busy this coming weekend as there is also an event in Fitzgerald Park.
Spring Leagues
Well done to Tom, Gillian and all the players who participated in the recent Spring League.
Junior Tennis
Junior Squads
Please note that, due to the Senior open, the junior squad times that normally commence at 4.30pm will now take place as follows:
Thursday, 9th of June 4pm-5.25pm
Monday 13th – Thursday 16th June 4pm-5.25pm
All other squads will take place at their usual time.
This will be the last week of squads for this year.
Parent/Child Breakfast and Tennis Club – Sundays, 9.30am-11am
Following on from the success of the trial of this event, the next parent/child tournament will take place on Sunday, the 19th of June 2022.

The cost of the tournament is €10 per pairing and can be paid in cash on the day. This includes buns and coffee/hot chocolate after the event.
Summer Camp – Book here
The club intends to run weekly Summer Camps again this year for the following weeks:-
- Week 1: July 11th – 15th
- Week 2: July 18th – 22nd
- Week 3: July 25th – 29th
- Week 4: August 2nd – 5th (4-day week will be reflected in the price)
- Week 5: August 8th – 12th
- Week 5: August 15th – 19th
The camps will be run Monday – Friday and non-members will be permitted but must be accompanied by a member.
The times will be as follows:-
- Age 5 and 6: 12pm – 1pm – €65 members/€75 non-members
- Age 7 to 14: 1pm – 4pm – €80 members/€90 non-members
