1. Sunday’s Well – Munster Tour 1000 Senior Open

Our annual Munster Senior Open is happening this year May 15-25. Here is the Tournament Software link.

Thank you to everyone who has signed up, we have over 620 entries leading to huge waiting lists for most events. For those of you who are currently on waiting lists stay positive there is a chance we will have more spaces available when the entry closes on the 1st. Between withdraws and changing the size of events depending on entries.

2. Sunday’s Well – Munster Tour 1000 Masters Open

The Munster Tour 1000 Masters Open was held at the end of March. Over 250 entries from around the country played in events from the over 30s to the over 70s. Congratulations to all our players who took part and to the many Sunday’s Well members who won events. Thank you to Insight Insurance for their sponsorship, and to Stephen McCarthy, Marie Duffy, and Valerie Noonan for their time and efforts organising the tournament. 3. Fionnuala Quigley Internal Winter League

The Fionnuala Quigley Internal Winter League has now just two rounds left. The next dates are below. As per last year, we will be hosting a Grade 6 mini-tournament on the 19th and 20th of April. The finals night will be April 20th. To book a seat at the dinner which includes wine and a great meal for €30, please use this link.

  • 13 April – Round 5

  • 19 April (Friday) – ¾ Playoff & Grade 6 Mini-Tournament

  • 20 April – Finals Night

4. Ladder Cup Final

Just a few matches left to be played of the 162 in the competition! The finals are on Saturday, April 20th at 5 pm. Tickets for the Ladder Cup dinner are available from the Office or by using this link.

5. Winter League Phase 2

We currently have six teams playing in Phase 2, with the knockout stages just about to start.

We will also be hosting the Winter League Phase 2 finals on the 11th & 12th of May.

6. Munster Branch Update

Please see attached a letter that the Munster Branch requested I share with all members.

7. Civil Service Cup

Well done to Meg O’Gorman, Gillian O’Grady, Diarmuid Hurley, and Diarmuid McDonald who made it to the final of the Civil Service Cup in Douglas on March 24th.

8. 125 Event – Cork Choral Festival – Choirs on the Courts

This year we will be hosting 2 choirs during the Cork Choral Festival. Please see the details here on their website.

The two choirs are from Germany and the UK and total around 100 singers. They will be performing on courts 1,2,3 on May 4th at 2 pm. It promises to be a great event and open to the public so hopefully a good number can attend.

9. 125 Event – Anniversary Masters Invitational Team Event

As part of our 125th Anniversary celebrations, we are hosting an invitational masters team event on the 22nd of June.

Teams have been invited from each of the four provinces to play for the 125th Anniversary men’s and ladies’ doubles masters commemorative cups. Each team will consist of two men and two ladies. We are currently looking for expressions of interest from  eligible members  to play on the Sunday’s Well team.

Criteria for selection will be as follows.

  • Over 55 years

  • Grade 2 or above

  • Have played team tennis for Sunday’s Well i.e. Winter League or Summer Cup.

If there are more eligible people expressing interest in playing, a selection committee will determine the team members.

10. Friday Social Tennis

Friday Social Tennis will continue as normal (19:15 – 21:00, there is a €5 entry fee to play, followed by pizza), please see here the next series of dates. Thank you to the regular players who have volunteered to help organise these dates. You can sign up here.

11. Junior Tennis Report

A successful Easter Egg Hunt was held on March 27th, thanks to the Junior Committee for organising a great event for our juniors.

Carragline Junior Open – Well done to all who played and to

  • Emma O’Regan & Meg Harte Barry who were runners-up in the U14

  • Tommy & Johnny Fitzgerald who won the U16
