1. Sunday’s Well – Munster Tour 1000 Senior Open

Our annual Munster Senior Open starts next Wednesday, May 15th and will run until Saturday, May 25th.

Thank you to our sponsors O’Connors Pharmacies, and our tournament directors Claire Fennell and Valerie Noonan. And our tournament referee Ger Flynn, and a huge number of volunteers.

Our annual Open BBQ will take place on semi-finals night Friday, May 24th. Velvet will be performing in the bar, please book your tickets here to ensure your place.

Good luck to all of our members playing, it promises to be a great ten days of tennis so please do come show your support. On finals day we will also be joined by the President and CEO of Tennis Ireland.

2. Winter League Finals

We are hosting the Winter League Finals this weekend, from 11-5ish on Sat and Sun.

Our Grade 1 team captained by Matt Seifert, will be playing Rushbrooke on Saturday at 12:30, all support would be much appreciated.

Good luck to our team on the day Rebecca O’Mahony, Lisa Friess, Victor Sorth, and David Zarzuela.

3. Fionnuala Quigley Internal Winter League

The Fionnuala Quigley Internal Winter League finished in April and was won by Emily O’Donoghue’s Mochas, the runners-up were Alex Daly’s Espressos.

Our Grade 6 Mini Tournament was won by Gillian Fitzgerald and Beth Noonan. Runners-up were Catherine Clehane and Mary Lynch.

4. Ladder Cup Finals

The Ladder Cup concluded on April 20th with three great finals.

  • Clive Kerrisk beat Paul Power to win the Lee Cup.
  • Kevin O’Regan beat Joanna Riordan to win the Normandy Cup.
  • Ed Donovan beat Victor Sorth to win (For a third successive year) the Mardyke Cup.

Thank you to Martin Hurley and Peter O’Rouke for their great work on the ladders.

5. Spring League

Spring league matches are starting tomorrow evening, our Grade 4,5,6 team captained by Elaine Walsh are at home at 7 to Fountainstown. Our Grade 1,2,3 team captained by Karen Barry are away to Carraigaline. Best of luck to both teams.

6. 125 Event – Cork Choral Festival

On May 4th we hosted two choirs as part of the Cork Choral Festival. Funky Voices from the UK and Pro Musica Soest from Germany. We had around 250 people in the club performing and watching for the hour of the event. Please see some photos and videos here.

7. Friday Social Tennis

Friday Social Tennis is on tomorrow night May 10th and will then take a short break for the Senior Open. Please see here the next series of dates. Thank you to the regular players who have volunteered to help organise these dates. You can sign up here.

8. Junior Tennis Report

The Junior Committee held a great parent and child event on Sunday, April 21st. Thank you to all who took part.

Tomorrow May 10th, we are hosting an Under 8s Red Ball event.

U14 T500 Open – will be held on June 8 & 9. The event is currently open for entries please sign up here on Tournament Software. Thank you to our sponsor Court Care.

Junior Open – Our Junior Open will be held from June 29th – July 6th. Entry will open May 27th, here on Tournament Software.
