1. Senior Interpros

The Senior Interpros are being held in the club this Friday (Afternoon), August 9th and Saturday (all day), August 10th. The Interpros is a competition between Munster, Ulster, Connacht, and Leinster.

This is arguably the highest standard of tennis in Ireland and will likely feature some of the Irish Davis Cup and Billie-Jean King Cup players. It promises to be a great tennis weekend and is well worth coming to watch.

2. Mary Collins Charity Day


The Mary Collins charity day will be held in the Club on Saturday, August 24th. This is an annual charity ladies’ event open to clubs in Cork City. This year’s event will be once again kindly sponsored by Alive Coaching. Thank you to Laia Raigal and Noelle Twomey for running this event.

3. Senior Close

The Senior Close will take place from Sunday, September 8th to Friday, September 13th. Thank you to our sponsor Induchem Group.
The Senior Close is the Club’s annual internal close championship. Members can pick their partners, the grades are split into 3 different groups all of which (depending on entry numbers) have singles, doubles, and mixed draws.
  • Grade 1,2,3
  • Grade 4,5
  • Grade 6

Please review the regulations for example in the Grade 1/2/3 event a Grade 1 can only play with a Grade 3. And in the Grade 4/5 event, both players have to be one from each Grade 4 and Grade 5. The tournament will be open for entries on the 19th of August and close on the 28th of August. Entries will be on Tournament Software.

4. Summer Cup – Knockout Stage


The Summer Cup is nearing its knockout stages. The final of the Summer Cup will be held in Sunday’s Well across two weekends in September. Sunday, September 1st, and Saturday, September 7th.
5. Social Tennis

Social tennis (Fridays 19:15 – 21:00) will continue as normal on Friday 16 Aug, 23 Aug, 30 Aug, 6 Sep. Please sign up using this link.

Please note there is no Social Tennis this Friday due to the Interpros.

6. 125 Event – Vintage Tennis Day & Wimbledon Tea Party


On Saturday, July 13th we held Vintage Tennis Day & Wimbledon Tea Party. This was a great event and so nice to see so many in vintage attire. The live music from the Butterband was also a great addition. Please see the photos here. Thank you to Donal Johnson, Ron O’Mahoney, and Mary Donnelly for their help in organising this wonderful event.

7. 125 Event – Cork City Culture Night

On Friday, September 20th the Club will participate in Cork City Culture Night, the clubhouse will be open to the public for tours. We will have some small events that evening, including a repeat of the history lecture given by Dr. Tom Spalding back in February.

8. Argideen Vale Visit  

On Sunday, August 25th the club is organising a visit to Argideen Vale, in Timoleague to play on the grass courts. Thank you to the Argideen Committee for allowing us to visit and play on your grass courts. The entry is now closed and people will be contacted soon with details of the event.

9. Ballinlough Visit  

On Friday, September 6th at 7 pm the club is organising a visit to Ballinlough Tennis Club. This is open to all grades, please use this form to sign up.

10. Members Achieving International Honours

Congratulations to Tara Higgins who has been selected to play for Ireland again this year. Tara is currently in Portugal playing for the Irish Over 30s Masters Team. Best of luck to you and all of the Irish teams playing.

11. Members Achieving New Grades

Congratulations to the following members who have successfully been upgraded to the following new grades this season.

12. Junior Tennis Report

  • Junior Close – Just to give you all as much notice as possible the Junior Close will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, September 20-22. Details to follow next month.
  • Junior Interpros – Congratulations to our juniors who were selected to play for Munster in the U18s Interpros. They will be playing in Shankill on the 12th & 13th,
