1. Winter League Phase 1 – Update
The Winter League Phase 1 is well underway, and our 11 teams are doing great so far. You can track all the matches and schedules here on Tournament Software. Best of luck to all teams playing this weekend, two teams are playing at home on Sunday.
- Men’s Doubles Grade 5 at 11 am
- Men’s Doubles Grade 1 at 2 pm
2. American Tournament – Round 2
The first of our American Tournaments takes place tonight, it is fully subscribed.
The second of our American Tournaments is set for Friday, the 6th of December. Only 32 players can be accommodated on an individual night so sign up quickly to ensure a spot. An email will be sent to those playing a week beforehand.
This is open to all grades. There will be three separate competitions within the tournament to cater for all grades. We would encourage more of the higher grades to get involved. There is a €5 entry fee which will include pizza, a complimentary beer, mineral or glass of wine and prizes. The last night will be Friday 17th of January.

3. Interprovincial Updates
Masters 50-60 Interprovincial Championships
Sundays Well was well represented at the Masters 50-60 Interprovincial Championships held at Catholic Institute Athletic Club (Limerick) on the 20th & 21st of September. Congratulations to all our members selected to play for Munster, Jennifer Haugh, Un Ryle, Deirdre McSherry, Marie Duffy, Ann Naughton, Connie Creed, Owen Braun & Grace Reidy.
Munster won the Ladies 50’s with Leinster winning the overall competition.
Masters 30-50 Interprovincial Championships
Congratulations to the 30-45s Young Masters Munster Interprovincial Team on their fantastic overall victory at the Interpros! A huge well done to all the Sunday’s Well players who represented and contributed to the Munster win. Shoutout to the W30’s Group Winners: Tara Higgins (Captain), who won all her matches, and Joanna Riordan, with two fantastic singles wins.
In the M40’s Group, who also won their group congratulations to Dave Hannam, Kevin Rea, and Aylmer Barrett for all of their wins. 3/4 being members of our club is such an honour!
The W45s who are also Group Winners include Tricia Higgins and Mary Claire McCarthy, both winning all their matches. Massive congrats also to Mags O’Driscoll (W40s) and Paul Barry (M45s) who contributed crucial points to secure the Team Munster win.
4. New Members Information Night
Myself, Carole Nolan (Vice Captain), and Ger Flynn will be hosting an information night for new and recent members on Tuesday, November 12th at 19:30.
The aim is to present a short agenda, for example how to join a committee, how to enter Open Tournaments, what is Winter League etc. We are also there to answer any questions new members may have. There is no signup needed, please just show up if you are interested or want to take part.

5. Rescheduled Douglas Friendly
The Douglas Friendly was rained off at the beginning of October. We are rescheduling to Friday, November 29th, 7-9, in Sunday’s Well, followed by food.

Tennis Ireland has published their calendar of events for 2025.

- Sunday’s Well Senior Open – 11 May – 24 May
- National Masters – June 6-8 (A new event for us in 2025)
- Sunday’s Well Junior Open – 28 June – 5th July

7. Social Tennis
Social tennis will continue as normal for the following weeks 8 Nov, 15 Nov, and 22 Nov
There will then be a two-week break for the Douglas Friendly and the 2nd American Tournament Night.

8. Event – 125 Gala Ball
Thank you to our amazing 125 Ball Committee (Maria, Carole, Sandra, Michele, Shauna, Mary, Jeroen), who did a wonderful job organising a memorable night.

9. Junior Tennis
- The Halloween Party was hosted last Monday by the Junior Committee who did an amazing job. Thank you all for your great work.
- The Santa Party is currently being organised details will be emailed directly in the coming weeks.
