4. Sunday’s Well – Munster Tour 1000 Senior Open
Like last year our annual Munster Senior Open is happening in mid-May.
Entries will open in April and based on usual demand entries will close extremely fast. If you hope to enter please do plan ahead!
5. Winter League Phase 1
We had ten teams playing in Phase 1. Five teams made the semi finals and two made the finals. The Ladies Grade 1’s played in a tight final in awful weather in Nenagh on Sunday 23rd of February but unfortunately came second to St Michael’s, well done to Tara Higgins, Lisa Friess, Stephanie Corkery, Marie Kinnane and Danielle Geary on a great campaign. On Saturday 22nd February also in Nenagh Marie Duffy’s Ladies Grade 2 won their final, heartiest congratulations to all the team Jenny Haugh, Ann Naughton, Anne McCarthy, Un Ryle, Lauren O’Sullivan and Eva McArdle. Well done to all players who put in long campaigns, tremendous hard work, and put up with awful weather! A special shout out to Ger who was on court every Friday evening giving coaching, advice and support…thank you.
6. Winter League Phase 2
We have 7 teams competing in Phase 2. The games are well underway with finals scheduled for early May. Our Grade 5 mixed team captained by Emily O’Donovan had a great win against Tralee at home on Sunday and are now through to the quarter finals. This game will be away on Sunday 16th to KBTC. Dee Swinburne’s Grade 1 mixed team had a resounding 5-0 win against Limerick Lawn in their first match on Sunday, this match was also at home. I would encourage all members to try and support teams when playing at home if at all possible.
7. Ladder Cup
The Ladder Cup is progressing with the finals on Saturday, April 12th at 5 pm. Tickets for the Ladder Cup dinner are available from the Office or by contacting Martin Hurley.
8. Civil Service Cup
We have a team playing in this year’s Civil Service Cup in Douglas on Sunday the 30th of March. The Civil Service Cup is an annual one-day tournament in Douglas for Grade 3s.
9. Table Quiz
The social committee organised a very successful charity table quiz on 20th of February. Over 20 teams competed. Thank you to our Quiz Master John Coulter, €500 was raised for The Mercy Hospital.

11. Junior Tennis Report
The Sign-up for junior squads Term 3 will be sent out week commencing March 24th.
Our U14 team of Henrique Sato Hayashi, Darragh Spillane, Annabelle Murray and Justine Canty played in the playoffs of the Carrigaline Cup last Sunday and despite great tennis they weren’t successful on the day. Thanks to NPC Justin Canty. Our U18 team is playing the Munster U18 Cup final next weekend against St Michaels; Jessica Carly, Nicole Walsh, Johnny Fitzgerald and Tommy Fitzgerald. Best of luck to the team.
Adult and Child; the next dates for these are April 6th and May 25th. The pairings can be any adult (Mum/Dad/Aunt/Cousin/Older sibling etc) with a junior. These are always great fun and I would encourage all to get involved.
Looking forward to another great month of tennis….weather permitting!
