The tennis year is coming to a close, but it is still full steam ahead with plenty happening.
Social Tennis for Members | Friday February 9th @7.15 pm – 9.15pm
The final social tennis for this tennis year will be held on Friday 9thth, from 7.15pm to 9.15pm. There is a €5 entry fee to play, followed by pizza. It would be nice to get a full house for the last night! Social tennis will resume on March 1st.
American Tournament – Friday, February 16th @ 7.15pm
Round three of the American Tournament will be held on Friday Feb 16th. Please sign up below if you would like to play. Places will be reserved for each grade. If you are interested in playing, there are still a few remaining places. Thanks to Freefoam for sponsorship of this event.

Fionnuala Quigley Internal Winter League – final reminder to sign up
The 2024 Fionnuala Quigley Internal Winter League will commence on Saturday, 24th February. There will be four round robin matches and a ¾ playoff on April 19th and finals on Saturday April 20th. The matches will be played on a Saturday evening at 5pm. The round robin dates are Feb 24th, March 2nd, March 9th, April 6th & April 13th. Each team will be playing four out of the five nights, but subs can also slot in for you. The final format will depend on the numbers participating.
The closing date for entry is Friday 9th February.
This is a fun doubles team event open to all levels and is a great way to meet other members. The entry fee is €15 payable on commencement of your first match. You can also sign up as a sub if you do not want to commit to the full event.

Winter League Phase I
A reminder that Lauren’s Grade 4 Team will compete in day two of the Winter League finals in St Anne’s TC Waterford on Sunday February 11th at 2pm. The best of luck to you all & all support is welcome. A great achievement.
Winter League Phase II

Civil Service Cup
We are looking to ideally enter 1 or 2 teams in this year’s Civil Service Cup, which is being held in Douglas on Sunday, March 24th. The event is an annual one-day tournament for Grade 3s only. The format is a team of 4, 2 men and 2 women playing doubles (no mixed) across a round robin in the morning and then ideally the knockouts in the afternoon. Emma’s Serve & Slice
“Emma’s Serve & Slice” memorial tournament was held on Feb 3rd and was a resounding success. There was representation from six Clubs in an afternoon of mixed doubles followed by a charity afternoon tea. In excess of €3,200 was raised in aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research. The event has been very generously sponsored by Induchem. Thanks to Claire, Dara and many other of Emma’s close friends who organised every detail of the event. It was a joyful and fitting tribute to our much loved past Tennis Captain and friend, Emma Crowley.

Table Quiz
The social committee is hosting a table quiz on Thursday 22nd of February from 8pm in the clubhouse in aid of charity, with MC John Coulter.
Table of 4 – €40 per table and individuals are also welcome to make up a team on the night. Book your table in advance at this Link or by adding your name to the notice board in the clubhouse. There are a few tables still available if you would like to attend.
International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day will fall this year on Friday,8th March. To mark this day and as part of our 125th Anniversary year we are hosting a reception to honour and celebrate the proud history of service and sporting achievement of our Sunday’s Well Boating & Tennis Club lady members. All former lady Chairs, Captains and International Players have been formally invited. Munster Veterans’ Open
The Munster Veterans’ Open will be held in Sunday’s Well Boating & Tennis Club Friday, 22nd – Sunday, 24th March 2024. Entry on TI software will open on February 26th.
Junior Tennis
Best of luck to our junior teams currently competing in the U14 Carrigaline Cup & in the U12 Pet Essentials Cup.
Juniors have also been enjoying a number of friendly matches with Bishopstown and St Michaels’s, both at home and away.
