See here a quick summary of events over the past month and some upcoming events to be aware of. Please always remember that club events are published here on our website along with any relevant links to sign up.

1. Sunday’s Well – Munster Tour 1000 Masters Open

The Sunday’s Well – Munster Tour 1000 Masters Open will be held next weekend Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th. Over 230 entries from around the country will be playing in events from the over 30s to the over 80s. It will be a great event to come and watch some great tennis. Thank you to Insight Insurance for their sponsorship, and to Stephen McCarthy and Marie Duffy for their time and efforts in organising the tournament.

This year Michelle Kirby will be setting up her tennis shop in the gym studio on Saturday and Sunday so please come visit. There will also be live music in the bar on Saturday night at 8:30.

2. Sunday’s Well – Munster Tour 1000 Senior Open

In case you didn’t know our annual Munster Senior Open is happening this year in mid-May. Here is the Tournament Software link.

3. Friday Social Tennis

Friday Social Tennis will continue as normal (7:15-9, there is a €5 entry fee to play, followed by pizza), please see here the next series of dates. Thank you to the regular players who have volunteered to help organise these dates. You can sign up here.

4. Fionnuala Quigley Internal Winter League

The Fionnuala Quigley Internal Winter League has now run for the last 3 Saturdays. The next dates are here. As per last year, we will be hosting a Grade 6 mini-tournament on the 19th and 20th of April. We will be in touch next week regarding this. The finals night will be April 20th.

5. Winter League Phase 2

We currently have six teams playing in Phase 2. Most of the teams are about halfway through their group phase and all doing great so far.

6. Ladder Cup

The Ladder Cup is progressing with the finals on Saturday, April 20th at 5 pm. Tickets for the Ladder Cup dinner are available from the Office or by contacting Martin Hurley.

7. Civil Service Cup

We have a team playing in this year’s Civil Service Cup in Douglas on Sunday the 24th. The Civil Service Cup is an annual one-day tournament in Douglas for Grade 3s. Wishing the best of luck to Martina O’Sullivan, Gillian O’Grady, Diarmuid Hurley, and Diarmuid McDonald. All support would be very much appreciated.

8. Table Quiz

The social committee organised a very successful charity table quiz on 22nd February. We had 22 teams competing, the evening was won by Daniel O’Mahony’s team. Thank you to our Quiz Master John Coulter, €600 was raised for Arc House.

9. International Women’s Night

Last Friday, March 8th an event was held to commemorate the women of Sunday’s Well. We had a packed night with over 80 in attendance and topped off the night with an amazing account of the history of women in Sunday’s Well by our own Mary-Jane Kenefick.

10. Junior Tennis Report

Friday, March 8th we held a Tennis Ireland U10s Junior Event with 22 players from all over Munster attending.

Signup for junior squads for Term 3 will be sent out in the coming week.

A Tennis Ireland U9s Junior Event will be held on April 26th so please keep an eye on Tournament Software.
