1. Induchem Senior Club Close

The Induchem Senior Club Close starts this Sunday, September 8th to Friday, September 13th. Thank you to the Tennis Committee and Ger Flynn for your help organising the event. Thank you to our key sponsor Induchem Group. The draws and schedule will be published tonight, matches will start on Sunday at 2.

Good luck to all those playing, finals night will be Friday the 13th, with live music from 20:00 and the Club BBQ from 19:30.

2. Summer Cup – Finals

The first of the Summer Cup finals were held yesterday the 1st of September. Congratulations to our Grade 6 Mens Team who made it to the final, they were unfortunately narrowly beaten in super doubles by Limerick Lawn. Well done to Mark, Denis, Justin, and Aidan for getting all the way to the final.

The second of the finals days is this Saturday in Sunday’s Well. Please see here the order of play for this Saturday the 7th.

3. Ballinlough Visit  

This Friday, September 6th at 6:30 pm the club is organising a social tennis visit to Ballinlough Tennis Club. This is open to all grades, please use this form to sign up.

4. Winter League Phase 1


Winter League Phase 1 is due to open in the coming days, I will send out an email as soon as I have it. The format for Phase 1 is Men’s and Ladies’ separate draws, the same as Phase 1 last year. Matches are expected to start in early October with the finals in late January.

5. Mary Collins Charity Day


The Mary Collins charity day was held in the Club on Saturday, August 24th. This year’s event was once again kindly sponsored by Alive Coaching with additional support from The Brook Inn, Ornua Co-operative, and many other personal donations. Thank you to Laia Raigal, Noelle Twomey, and Carole Nolan for running this event.

In the end, the event raised an amazing amount of €5,200 which will be presented to Edel House in the coming weeks. Please see here some photos from the event.

6. Senior Interpros

The Senior Interpros were held in the club in early August. The Interpros is a competition between Ulster, Munster, Connacht, and Leinster.

The Interpros was in the end, won by Leinster after a fantastic weekend of tennis. Munster finished in second place, well done to Rebecca O’Mahony for playing in her first senior interpro team. Thank you to Brook Catering for the excellent dinner on the last night.

7. Social Tennis

Social tennis will be taking a break for a few weeks with the Ballinlough Invitational (6th), the Close Championship (13th), and the Junior Close Championship (20th). Social Tennis will be back to normal from the 27th Sep and run on the 4th Oct, and the 11th Oct.

8. Argideen Vale Visit  

On Sunday, August 25th the Club sent a team of 35 members to visit Argideen Vale, in Timoleague to play on their grass courts.

Thank you to the Argideen Committee, Eileen MacSweeney, Donal Murray, and Mary Mountjoy for allowing us to visit and play on your grass courts. Thank you to Noel Lucey for coordinating the event between the two clubs. It was a wonderful day of tennis followed by the infamous Argideen Vale afternoon tea.

9. Members Achieving New Grades

Congratulations to the following members who have successfully been upgraded to the following new grades this season.

  • Lauren O’Sullivan – Grade 2
  • Diarmuid McDonald – Grade 3
  • Louise Statham – Grade 5

10. Junior Tennis Report


The Junior Close will take place September 20th, 21st, and 22nd. The tournament opens this evening for entries, please use this link. Entries will close on September 13th.
