The junior tennis information night that was held at the beginning of January was very well attended. We had over 40 parents attend on the night and it was great to see such enthusiasm. On the afternoon of December 18th, the club welcomed a very special visitor. Over 65 of our younger members came to the club to welcome Santa and his elves had setup a beautiful grotto for him in the Snooker Room. Here are a handful of photos of the day, specific photos of individual families can be collected at the club office.
At the end of October, the club held the Junior Close, approximately 60 kids took part over the few days and while the weather was mixed we saw some excellent tennis. Well done to all who took part!
On October 15th, three Sunday’s Well Junior teams travelled to the Catholic Institute to play in the Junior Cup Finals. The U12, U14 and U16 teams all played in the finals of their respective groups. It was great to see Sunday’s Well so well represented at this level. The U12 and U16 teams both went on to win the competitions outright. Well done to all who took part!
Another successful Family Fun Day was held on the 1st October. We had over 180 members take part in lots of fun activities and games. There was also a BBQ and even some yummy pancakes!
The biggest club event of the year was the Davy Munster Junior Open. With 42 events and 455 entries it is also one of the biggest Tennis events in Munster, if not the biggest. Sundays Well was well represented in all events and had a number of winners and runners up on finals day. As usual, the open ran extremely smoothly thanks to Marie, Dara, the junior committee and many volunteers. For the first time, we surveyed participants on their views about the tournament and feedback was extremely positive.
