A massive congratulations to all our members who have recently been selected to play for Munster in the Senior and Junior Interprovincial Championships. We are delighted to say that Sunday’s Well was represented at both Junior and Senior level as follows: David Hannam and Sean O’Callaghan recently played on the winning Munster Team in the Senior Interprovincial Championships in Windsor Tennis Club in Belfast. In conjunction with Wimbledon’s mens’ finals day, the social committee organised a Wimbledon Tea Party. The tennis was old style with some superb traditional outfits and the tea and cakes were delicious! Munster Senior Open

Munster Senior Open

As many of you know the Munster Senior Open was held at the beginning of June. It was a busy week with 30 events, 484 players, 401 matches but it all went very smoothly! Well done to all our players who took part and congratulations to our finalists and winners. Winter League Finals

Well done to Abby Hayes’s Grade 1 team made up of Abby, Sean and Fiona O’Callaghan and Mick Hurley, who won the winter league finals held in Limerick Lawn recently. Also well done to Eileen Daly’s Grade 4 team who also reached the final and put up a tough fight against a very strong Nenagh team. A very big thank you to the supporters who travelled to Limerick.

Junior Tennis Information Evening 2018

The junior tennis information night that was held at the beginning of January was very well attended. We had over 40 parents attend on the night and it was great to see such enthusiasm. The evening gave an overview of the club’s junior tennis offerings, the agenda covered items such as who is who in Junior tennis, what activities are available and how to join, how parents can get involved. Canadian Christmas Cracker

The annual Christmas tournament was oversubscribed this year, we had 36 people taking part in the fun mixed doubles event, which was followed by some mulled wine and mince pies. Well done to Debbie Dunlea and Deirdre Swinburne who were tied first for the ladies with 19 points each and to Derry MacCarthy who won the event overall with an excellent 21 points.  

American Tournament Finals

The American Tournament which ran monthly from April – October was again a big success, we had 82 people take part over the 6 months and every month bar one was fully booked. The finals of the American Tournament took place on October 27th, Joe O’Mahony and Alex Daly were the overall winners. The tournament was backed with sponsorship from Cantor Fitzgerald and Human+Kind and the good news is that Human+Kind have already agreed to sponsor it again next year.
