Last weekend saw a great display of tennis in the club as 6 club teams did battle in the Winter League Semi-Finals. Unfortunately, due to the fact that Grade 3 and Grade 4 teams were playing each other, we were never going to have more than 4 teams in the finals. Three of these teams made it through and the tennis and atmosphere were fantastic. This week saw the completion of renovations to the squash courts. This work was possible with the assistance of a €4,000 grant from the Cork City Council last year. The works included plastering of Court 2, sanding and relining of both floors and a machine wash of both court walls. Both courts are now in pristine condition and of an exceptional standard. In order to keep them this way we need to ensure they are treated accordingly. Please remember, it is the responsibility of all club members using the squash courts…
Well done to our Grade 4 team of Sean O’Malley, Debbie Dunlea, Norma Kerrisk and Niall O’Keeffe who won their Winter League final in Nenagh last week. They were 2-1 down after the first round, so it was fantastic that they pulled it back. It was very well deserved. Thanks also must go to those who travelled to support, lovely to see such club spirit at play.
