As many of you know the Insight Insurance Munster Senior Open was held at the beginning of June. It was a busy week with 30 events, 481 players but it all went very smoothly! Well done to all our players who took part and congratulations to our finalists and winners. Pewsey Friendly 2019
This weekend we welcomed 12 visitors from Pewsey LTC, Wiltshire, UK. The Tennis & Social Committees organised events to coincide with this visit over the weekend, starting with a ‘Meet & Greet’ on Friday night in the River Lee hotel. Tennis matches were organised for Saturday & Sunday mornings and the visitors were guests at the presentation dinner for the Internal Winter League & Ladder Cup finals on Saturday night. Ladder Cup & Internal League Finals 2019
The finals of the Internal Winter League and Ladder Cup took place last weekend (Saturday 13th April). This was followed by the Ladder Cup dinner at which the prizes were presented and was attended by over 80 members and guests. Munster Veterans' Open 2019
Last weekend (29th-31st March) saw the completion of the Club’s first major event for 2019, the Munster Open Veterans Tournament.Over 165 players from all over the country participated in 28 events from over 35 to over 70 age categories. This was a bigger entry than in 2018. We saw some fantastic tennis from some of the county’s top Veteran tennis players and which was aided in no small part by brilliant sunshine throughout the weekend. Civil Service Cup 2019
On Sunday 31st of March, Sunday’s Well had two teams playing in the Civil Service Cup, an annual interclub event which is held in Douglas Tennis Club. The teams were made up of Robert Murphy, Dermot Carbery, Ann Humphries and Emma Crowley Claire Fennell, Maria Crowley, Hugh Nagle and Ed Donovan Claire’s team reached the semis but were unfortunately beaten by the eventual winners Monkstown. Winter League Finals 2019
Two of our Winter League teams represented the club on Finals day in Limerick Lawn on March 24th. Mag’s grade 5 team, made up of Mags, Gillian, Peter, Ciaran and Donal’s G3 team made up of Donal, Niall, Jeroen and Brian were unfortunately beaten in two tight matches. Winter League Results
Following some pretty tough weather conditions which resulted in 3 out of 4 semis being postponed for a week, all 4 semifinals have now been played. Donal’s G3 team and Mag’s Grade 5 team have now qualified for the Winter League Finals which are due to be held March 24th in Limerick Lawn. Unfortunately, Sunday’ Well had a tough weekend for the quarters with 4 teams being knocked out. Upcoming Junior Friendlies
A calendar of junior friendlies has now been organised for the upcoming months. The days that there are no friendlies, there will still be club matchplay. All of the friendlies and match play will take place in Sunday’s Well and we would strongly encourage our juniors to play as it is an excellent way to get practice, meet other players while having some fun. Christmas Cracker
42 people took part in this year’s Christmas Cracker event which was held in the club on the morning of the 27th of December. It was great to see the club buzzing during the holiday season. Super Seniors Finals
The finals of our new Super Seniors event took place on December 11th, there was some superb tennis and followed by festive lunch. Ladies Christmas Lunch
The annual ladies Christmas lunch took place yesterday December 5th, approximately 40 members attended to celebrate the festive season in the company of their tennis friends. Brook Inn provided a delicious Christmas Dinner and a presentation was made to Greg Morris as a thank you for all his work during the year. Rafa Nadal Academy Visit 2018
Yesterday, we had a visit from the Rafa Nadal Academy who came to the Club to give a few coaching sessions to members of all ages. We wish to thank the Academy for their visit, a massive thank you also to Ger, all the parents and players of all ages for their help and support of the event.
