National Veterans Close for 2018
From October 12th-14th Sunday’s Well was delighted to host the 34th William Bradley & Co National (Veterans) Close. The competition was run by Munster Branch was a success despite some pretty nasty weather on Saturday, thankfully the finals day on Sunday proved to be a much sunnier day. Our Munster Coach of the Year!
Huge congratulations to our Coaching Coordinator Ger Flynn who today was named Munster Coach of the Year. Ger is a level 3 coach and a Tennis Ireland Tutor with over 30 years coaching experience. As a player, she represented Munster at all levels and was also part of an Irish Veterans team. She has been coach and non-playing captain to numerous Munster and Irish Junior teams, travelling around Europe with the National Junior squads over a 10-year period. Insight Senior Close Week
The Insight Senior Close Week took place between September 23rd – 29th and was again well attended with over 100 entries. The Close Week Barbecue was well supported with over 80 people in attendence. Gin and Beer Tasting Evening
Well done to all on the Social Committee who recently organised a Gin and Craft Beer Tasting Evening. The evening was a big success with over 70 people attending. New Super Seniors American Tournament Gets Underway
The first round 1 of the new Super Seniors American Tournament took place on September 11th. The event is a new event which was organised by Vice Captain Donal Johnson and a subcommittee. The event is due to take place every second Tuesday of the month at 10:15-12:00. It consists of short competitive tennis games followed by morning coffee. Our Summer Cup Finalists
Well done to Donal Johnson, Stuart Ahern, Niall O’Sullivan and Chris McCusker who reached the Summer Cup Finals in Nenagh on September 8th. Unfortunately, they were beaten 3-1 by a very strong Larkspur team in the finals but there is no doubt they did amazingly well to get to the finals and have done the club very proud.

A massive congratulations to all our members who have recently been selected to play for Munster in the Senior and Junior Interprovincial Championships. Wimbledon Tea Party
In conjunction with Wimbledon’s mens’ finals day, the social committee organised a Wimbledon Tea Party. The tennis was old style with some superb traditional outfits and the tea and cakes were delicious! Munster Senior Open
As many of you know the Munster Senior Open was held at the beginning of June. It was a busy week with 30 events, 484 players, 401 matches but it all went very smoothly!
