Davy Munster Junior Open 2019
The finals of the Davy Munster Junior open championships were concluded in superb conditions at the Sundays Well Boating and Tennis Club, Cork on Saturday 6th July. Over 7 days over 310 boys and girls in age groups from as young as under 8 right through to under 18 competed in this Category 1 Irish Junior Tennis tournament and many of the country’s top juniors from all four provinces and further afar battled in blistering sunshine for the main titles. A calendar of junior friendlies has now been organised for the upcoming months. The days that there are no friendlies, there will still be club matchplay. All of the friendlies and match play will take place in Sunday’s Well and we would strongly encourage our juniors to play as it is an excellent way to get practice, meet other players while having some fun. Rafa Nadal Academy Visit 2018
Yesterday, we had a visit from the Rafa Nadal Academy who came to the Club to give a few coaching sessions to members of all ages. We wish to thank the Academy for their visit, a massive thank you also to Ger, all the parents and players of all ages for their help and support of the event. Junior Cup Winners!
Well done to our U14 team who won the Junior Cup Final yesterday in St Anne’s, beating Killaloe 5-0. Our Munster Coach of the Year!
Huge congratulations to our Coaching Coordinator Ger Flynn who today was named Munster Coach of the Year. Ger is a level 3 coach and a Tennis Ireland Tutor with over 30 years coaching experience. As a player, she represented Munster at all levels and was also part of an Irish Veterans team. She has been coach and non-playing captain to numerous Munster and Irish Junior teams, travelling around Europe with the National Junior squads over a 10-year period. Junior Tennis Information Evening 2018
The junior tennis information night that was held at the beginning of January was very well attended. We had over 40 parents attend on the night and it was great to see such enthusiasm. The evening gave an overview of the club’s junior tennis offerings, the agenda covered items such as who is who in Junior tennis, what activities are available and how to join, how parents can get involved. Santa Party 2017
On the afternoon of December 18th, the club welcomed a very special visitor. Over 65 of our younger members came to the club to welcome Santa and his elves had setup a beautiful grotto for him in the Snooker Room. Junior Close 2017
At the end of October, the club held the Junior Close, approximately 60 kids took part over the few days and while the weather was mixed we saw some excellent tennis. Well done to all who took part!
