Squash Refurbishment Completed

Squash Refurbishment Completed

This week saw the completion of renovations to the squash courts. This work was possible with the assistance of a €4,000 grant from the Cork City Council last year. The works included plastering of Court 2, sanding and relining of both floors and a machine wash of both court walls.  Both courts are now in pristine condition and of an exceptional standard. Here’s a brief update on what has been a few very busy weeks at our club….   Munster Vets  A big thanks to Stephen McCarthy who delivered yet another successful Vets event. We had 198 participants in 44 events, and there were several Sundays Well winners.  Well done to everyone involved!   Civil Service Cup Well done to Tom Reidy, Ed Donovan, Emily O’Donoghue and Anna Clancy who represented Sundays Well in the Civil Service Cup in Douglas  which was held on the 3rd April. Six Teams Reach Winter League Semis

Six Teams Reach Winter League Semis

After a very busy weekend of matches, 6 club teams have made it through to the semi finals of the Winter League, as Grade 2s and Grade 3s will now play each other in the semis, which means that the club already has two guaranteed finalists. In further good news, the club has been chosen as the venue for the finals which will be held on Sunday 15th May. We had a lot going on in the club in recent weeks and the following is a brief update on the happenings…. Munster Veterans Open: 25th – 27th March The Munster Veterans’ Open will be held in Sunday’s Well Boating & Tennis Club from Friday, 25th  March until Sunday, 27th March. Winter League Winners

Winter League Winners

Well done to our Grade 4 team of Sean O’Malley, Debbie Dunlea, Norma Kerrisk and Niall O’Keeffe who won their Winter League final in Nenagh last week. They were 2-1 down after the first round, so it was fantastic that they pulled it back. It was very well deserved. Thanks also must go to those who travelled to support, lovely to see such club spirit at play.

Santa Meet & Greet 2021

We had a special visitor to the club today, and it was absolutely great, a huge thank you to Mags & Fiona and all their team who did a wonderful job preparing for the visit. Of course, a giant thank you to Santa himself for taking the time to come to the club, we know he is a very busy man at the moment! Neilly Sull Open 2021

Well done to all who took part in the annual Neilly Sull open, as always the level of squash was fantastic. As we all know these things don’t run themselves so a big thank you to Eoin, our squash captain and to Ken O’Keeffe the tournament director for all their work and the final thank you goes to O’Sullivan Brothers DIY who very kindly sponsored the event. New Junior Squash Coaching Programme

New Junior Squash Coaching Programme

Building on the our World Squash Day event, last Friday the club kicked off a new junior squash coaching programme. It was fantastic to see juniors enjoying the squash courts and well done to Sophie O’Rourke, our coach and Eoin O’Toole, our Squash Captain on all their organizing and starting out on a great new initiative. World Squash Day 2021

World Squash Day 2021

A massive well done to our squash committee headed by Eoin O’Toole on a very successful world squash day. We saw superb squash potential from our juniors and an amazing display of skill from Sophie O’Rourke and Johnny Hurley in their exhibition match which finished with Sophie winning 2-1. The Squash Committee are now working to set up a new junior programme and more  news on this will follow soon.

Induchem Club Championships 2021

Induchem Club Championships 2021

The Induchem Club Championships concluded on Friday with a fantastic finals night. 162 players took part across 16 events and it was abosolutely wonderful to the see the return to tournaments and to see the wonderful friendly, sporting atmosphere that the club is all about and needless to say the standard of tennis was super as well. Summer Cup Finals 2021

Summer Cup Finals 2021

On Sunday 5th September the Summer Cup Finals were held in Rushbrooke. Sunday’s Well had 3 teams in the finals. In the first match of the day, our Grade 6 ladies battled each other in a nail biting final. It was Norma’s team that came through, hard luck to Adrienne’s team who put up a strong fight. The teams were Later on in the day, our Grade 1 Mixed team took on the home team Rushbrooke, they also had a superb win. Well done to all the players concerned.
