Well done to all who took part in the annual Neilly Sull open, as always the level of squash was fantastic. New Junior Squash Coaching Programme
Building on the our World Squash Day event, last Friday the club kicked off a new junior squash coaching programme. It was fantastic to see juniors enjoying the squash courts and well done to Sophie O’Rourke, our coach and Eoin O’Toole, our Squash Captain on all their organizing and starting out on a great new initiative. World Squash Day 2021
A massive well done to our squash committee headed by Eoin O’Toole on a very successful world squash day. We saw superb squash potential from our juniors and an amazing display of skill from Sophie O’Rourke and Johnny Hurley in their exhibition match which finished with Sophie winning 2-1. The Squash Committee are now working to set up a new junior programme and more news on this will follow soon.
Induchem Club Championships 2021
The Induchem Club Championships concluded on Friday with a fantastic finals night. 162 players took part across 16 events and it was abosolutely wonderful to the see the return to tournaments and to see the wonderful friendly, sporting atmosphere that the club is all about and needless to say the standard of tennis was super as well. Summer Cup Finals 2021
On Sunday 5th September the Summer Cup Finals were held in Rushbrooke. Sunday’s Well had 3 teams in the finals. In the first match of the day, our Grade 6 ladies battled each other in a nail biting final. It was Norma’s team that came through, hard luck to Adrienne’s team who put up a strong fight. Summer Camps Update
The club intends to run weekly Summer Camps again this year for the following weeks:. Week 1: July 5th – 9th Week 2: July 12th – 16th Week 3: July 19th – 23rd Week 4: July 26th – 30th Week 5: August 9th – 13th Week 6: August 16th – 20th The camps will be run Mondays – Fridays and non-members will be permitted but must be accompanied by a member. Presentation to Michael on his retirement
This week, Club Chairman, Mr John O’ Sullivan accompanied by the Club Trustees and staff made a presentation to Mr Michael Spillane who recently retired. Michael was Club Steward for Sunday’s Well for 29 years from 1991 – 2020. Michael arrived at Sunday’s Well with considerable experience as was outlined in this Irish Examiner profile in 2016. 3 teams make Summer Cup finals!
This year, we had four teams reach the semi-finals and these were played this weekend. Of the four, three have now reached the finals. Unfortunately, Marks G4 team were pipped in super doubles away to Bishopstown but Donal’s G3 team won at home to Tralee, Gillian’s G4 Ladies won away to Monaleen and Niall’s G6 team won away to Causeway in super doubles. Winter League Sign Up Opens
Munster Branch has issued details of this year’s Winter League. It will be run in two phases. The first phase will run from Mid October to January and the second phase will run from Mid January to April. Floodlight Upgrade
As previously communicated the upgrading of the club’s lighting infrastructure will commence on Monday 21st September with a view to being completed by Monday 12th October.
